If you’re using Adobe Premiere Pro, you’ll know that it’s an extremely comprehensive and powerful video editor. It’s jam packed with features that caters to even the most professional video editors. However, given the complexity, it makes it hard for new users and hobbyists to do even the basic tasks. In this guide I’ll show you how you can easily trim and cut a Video in Premiere Pro.
Note: A trim is defined as cutting off the start or end of a video clip. Whereas a cut can be the slicing of any section of the video clip at any point in time.

How to Trim A Video in Adobe Premiere Pro
Make sure you’ve added a video clip to the timeline.
Let’s do a very basic trim and then we’ll do a more complicated trim.
Start by clicking on the selection tool.
TIP: You can also simply press the V key on your keyboard
Set your time marker (by dragging the marker) where you would like to trim up to.
Click and drag the edge of your clip to the marker.
This will start to trim the video clip in the timeline.
Select the selection tool again. Drag your clip back to the start of your timeline.
To trim the END of your clip, do the same thing as above but instead, drag the edge of the video clip at the end and drag inwards.
How to Cut Video in Premiere Pro
To cut a video in Premiere Pro:
Click on the razor tool or press C on the keyboard.
Click anywhere in the video clip in the timeline to do the cut.
This will only cut (slice) the video clip without removing any part of the video.
To edit out the cut (delete a part of your video), use the selection tool, click and drag the edge of the sliced clip to trim away the video.
How to Delete Parts of a Video Clip in Premiere Pro
Finally, let’s say you want to remove an entire part of the video.
Select the Razor tool and slice your video clip.
If you make two cuts it will split your video into 3 clips.
Use the selection tool to select the clip you wish to remove completely.
Press Delete on your keyboard.
This will delete the clip but leave a gap where the clip was.
